Chezidek Flies ‘First Class’ on the Sacrament Riddim

October 20, 2026 | Afrobeat Magazine | Roots & Culture

Some voices age like fine rum. They get smoother, richer, and somehow better with time. Chezidek is one of those voices.

The veteran roots reggae singer from St. Ann, Jamaica, is back with ‘First Class,’ a laid-back, herb-conscious offering released October 16, 2026, on the Sacrament Riddim from Irie Ites Records and Riddim Factory.

And if you’ve been following Chezidek since the days of Leave De Trees and Inna Di Road, you already know what time it is.

Good Music Never Gets Old

Chezidek has spent more than two decades delivering the kind of roots reggae that doesn’t need flashy production or gimmicks to make its point. His unmistakable high-pitched vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and easygoing delivery have earned him a loyal following among reggae lovers worldwide.

‘First Class’ finds him right where longtime fans appreciate him most — comfortable in his own style, riding the riddim with a relaxed confidence that comes from years of experience.

The Sacrament Riddim project also features contributions from Anthony B, Jah Mason, Micah Shemaiah, and Stinging Ray, bringing together several voices from reggae’s roots and culture movement.

It’s a reminder that while musical trends come and go, there’s still a place for reggae that stays close to its foundation.

Roots Reggae Still Has Something to Say

With Afrobeats and other African-rooted sounds reaching new audiences around the world, younger listeners are discovering musical traditions that helped influence today’s global sound.

And that’s where artists like Chezidek deserve their flowers.

He was singing about consciousness, spirituality, and respect for the herb long before many of today’s trending artists stepped into a recording booth.

Some artists chase the latest sound. Others stay true to theirs and let the world catch up.

Chezidek has always seemed comfortable taking the second route.

Afrobeat Magazine Take: Not every new release needs to reinvent the wheel. Sometimes all you need is a solid riddim, a familiar voice, and a message that still matters. Chezidek delivers another reason to keep roots reggae in your rotation.

After all, first class isn’t always about where you’re going. Sometimes it’s about how smoothly you ride.
